ICT Recycling & Data Destruction
We are all very aware that the Earth’s resources are limited and just how important it is that we conserve as much as possible. One way to do this is to recycle our waste products. When we are talking about recycling for business one key area is ICT Recycling and IT Asset Disposal.
The reuse of your IT hardware (ICT Recycling) that is still in working order is a quick and easy way for your organisation to show it’s commitment to the environment and promote it’s social responsibility. For those systems that are are no longer fit for reuse (IT Asset Disposal) then the recovery of the useful component parts for spares and the recycling of constituent materials it another way in which we can reduce our impact on the environment.
Simplify IT can arrange for your retired IT assets to be transported to one of our sorting locations whereby each item will be assessed for it suitability for reuse. Those deemed not suitable for reuse will be sent to one of our ADISA certified partners for processing.
Some of the services we can offer through our partners are below:
- System Trade-In / Buy-Back: Reuse / resale of systems with usable life remaining.
- Component Recovery - Spares for Sale
- Physical Destruction Services - Capability to shred to 25mm and 6mm.
- Fully traceable and auditable process with certificates produced where required.
- Secure location with 24-hour CCTV surveillance, alarms, shutters, security fencing.
- Dedicated secure collection vehicles that are alarmed and tracked.
- Security screened drivers.
NetApp Data Destruction
For any retired NetApp systems we use the NetApp disk sanitise feature which logically deletes all data on one or more physical disk drives in a manner that precludes recovery of that data by any known recovery method.
The obliteration is accomplished by overwriting the entire disk multiple times with user-defined patterns of data. The disk sanitise feature performs a disk format operation and uses 3 successive byte overwrite patterns per cycle and a default 6 cycles per operation, for a total of 18 complete disk overwrite passes. This process is fully secure and in compliance with the US Department of Defence and Department of Energy security requirements.
Blancco Data Destruction
For all other systems we use Blancco technology to data wipe all the devices that come through our warehouse giving us an absolute data erasure with 100% tamper-proof audit trail. As the defacto global standard in certified data erasure, Blancco has been tested, certified, approved and recommended by 18 national and international governing bodies.
No other security firm can boast this level of compliance with the most rigorous requirements set by government agencies, legal authorities and independent testing laboratories.
It takes 95% less energy to recycle aluminium than it does to make it from raw materials.
When one ton of steel is recycled, 2,500 pounds of iron ore, 1,400 pounds of coal and 120 pounds of limestone are conserved.
Recycling creates four jobs for every one job created in the waste management and disposal industries.
